Documentary photography project

Summer cottages are often places where used and old furniture, goods and clothes are taken. They are places where the layers of eras are visible. You can still wear the old coat from your youth on cool summer evenings or the old college pants are great for yard jobs. The old garment has taken on new life.

I have photographed people in the country and summer cottages. I have asked them to choose clothed some of the old garment, which for some reason has retained, perhaps emotional reasons, or even because of practicality. Part of the clothes I photographed against a gray background to highlight the underlying garment of history and stories. All the pictures have been taken in Heinola, Lusi, around Kivijärvi.

This was a part of the school project for MA in Lahti Institute of design.
